Healthy Habits 

Health & Life Skills- We want our club members to develop the capacity to engage in positive behaviors. Programs include health and hygiene, cooking classes, nutrition lessons, bullying prevention, drug, tobacco, and alcohol prevention, teen pregnancy prevention, conflict and anger management, healthy relationship promotion, peer mediation, and more.
We promote at least 60 minutes of physical education on a daily basis!
In our after-school meal program, we serve Dinner four (4) nights a week and Lunch one (1) day a week. After-school meals include 2 hot meals and 3 cold meals (along with a chocolate milk, a vegetable, a fruit, a meat, and a carbohydrate./grain). During our summer meal program, we serve Breakfast (including a cereal, milk, and juice), Lunch, and Snack.

Results
Healthy Habits Reporting (2020-2021 school year) for Outcome Results Measured:
65% of participants ate fruit five or more days per week (34% reported three to four days and 1% reported three or less days per week), 63% of participants ate vegetables five or more days per week (29% reported three to four days and 8% reported three or less days per week), 97% of participants drank water five or more days per week (3% reported three to four days and 0% reported three or less days per week), and 95% of participants exercised five or more days per week (5% reported three to four days and 0% reported three or less days per week) throughout the 2020-2021 school year.
We saw a 100% improvement rate in healthy habits during the 2020-2021 school year as follows (% in parentheses = overall):

-10% increase in making something with fruit since mid-year (79%)
-8% increase in making something with vegetables since mid-year (79%)
-17% increase in making healthy choices when out to eat since mid-year (77%)
-4% increase in making healthy choices at the grocery store since mid-year (83%)
-13% increase in talking about eating healthy since mid-year (76%)
-16% increase in talking about healthy cooking since mid-year (83%)
-12% increase in following recipe directions since mid-year (68%)
-19% increase in using a knife safely since mid-year (64%)
-4% increase in trying new foods since mid-year (72%)
-2% increase in eating fruit since mid-year (83%)
-11% increase in eating vegetables since mid-year (68%)
-16% increase in eating whole grains since mid-year (75%)
-8% increase in choosing drinks low in sugar since mid-year (67%)
-100% showed improvement
